Dr. Emilios Galariotis

Emilios Galariotis is a Research Chair and Full professor of Finance at KIMEP University, Bang College of Business, in Almaty Kazakhstan. He is also a member of the management board of the IAPR (Independent Authority for Public Revenue) of the Hellenic Republic, an organisation of above 70 billion euro that is responsible for all public revenues including taxes and customs as well as for protecting public health, with a major impact on the economy, businesses and society.

In the past he has served in France at Audencia Business School (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB), (2008-2023). an associate and full Professor of Finance with various managerial roles such as Head of Department, Lab Director, Research Centre Director, Institute Director, Research Axis Head and Associate Dean for research. Before that he was in the UK at Durham University Business School (also triple crown and Russell group school) where beyond his academic positions as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer he served as Director of the MSc Programmes of the School.

In 1997 he obtained his four-year BA degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece.  After working in the Banking Industry, he went on to successfully pursue a Diploma in Business Economics and a Masters in Money Banking and Finance at Middlesex University Business School with distinction, and a PhD in Financial Economics at Durham University in 2003. In 2013, Professor Galariotis obtained his « Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches Sciences Economiques » from the University of Nantes in France, “the highest academic qualification a scholar can achieve by his or her own pursuit” Wikipedia

He has occupied several Journal editorial positions, and he is at present a member of the board of Directors and Assistant General Secretary of the Financial Engineering and Banking Society, the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics, the French Finance Association (Affi) where he has also served in the past as President.

His research is mainly on behavioural issues and efficiency (of local governments; economic, financial, banking, sports and energy markets); as well as on social finance issues (poverty, inequality, illiteracy etc.). His work has been accepted in 84 articles in journals such as the British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Operational Research, The Journal of Banking and Finance, The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Industrial Marketing Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Development Studies, Economics Letters, Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of Regulatory Economics, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organisation,  etc., while he has authored and coauthored several book chapters and edited and coauthored several Books including for the Frank J. Fabozzi Series and they Wiley Encyclopaedia of Management.
