The rapid transformation of the Energy markets towards a climate neutral Economy in Greece and Europe is the main topic of DAY 1 of the 6^th HAEE Energy Transition Symposium. The main policies, the required investments and the implementation of new green technologies in the companies’ strategy will be presented in the Green Energy Transition session. The Greek Energy Market Developments during and post- the Covid era will be discussed, while the Role of Power Exchanges in SE Europe will highlight the necessity for the creation of a regional energy hub. The Energy Transition and Sustainability Challenges panel will deep-dive in the structural changes of the energy sector with a sustainable approach. Solar and wind power, energy storage and IoT technologies are shaping a promising and challenging Future of the Greek RES Market. Islands have a great potential to become forerunners in the energy transition. Accelerating the decarbonization of European Islands requires visionary policy-making and innovative ideas, such as the creation of innovation labs. Finally, the Energy Security Issues in the Eastern Mediterranean will be thoroughly analyzed given the high geostrategic importance in a constantly changing energy and political environment.
