The Hellenic Association for Energy Economics is welcoming the 8th HAEE Energy Transition Symposium, entitled "Rethinking Energy: A secure and sustainable future"

HAEE is welcoming the 8th HAEE Energy Transition Symposium, entitled "Rethinking Energy: A secure and sustainable future", which will take place on September 27-29, 2023, at the French Institute of Greece, in the light of the new geopolitical landscape and towards a historic turning point into cleaner and more secure energy systems.

The Symposium, which has become a tradition in the country’s energy dialogue, will bring together a plethora of distinguished personalities from the energy sector, including but not limited to Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis (Minister of the Environment and Energy), Mr. Nikos Papathanasis (Alternate Minister of National Economy and Finance), Mr. Geoffrey R. Pyatt (Assistant Secretary Bureau of Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State), Ms. Alexandra Sdoukou (Deputy Minister of the Environment and Energy), Mr. Aristotelis Aivaliotis (General Secretary for Energy and Mineral Resources, Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy), Mr. Petros Vareliadis (Secretary General for Natural Environment and Waters, Ministry of Environment and Energy), Mr. Ioannis Xifaras (Secretary General of Transport, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport), Ms. Maria Spyraki (Member of the European Parliament), Mr. Giorgos J. Tsounis (U.S. Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic), Mr. Matthew Lodge (British Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic), Ms. Susanna Terstal (Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Hellenic Republic), Ms. Laurence Auer (Ambassador of France to Greece) and Mr. Athanasios Dagoumas (President, Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAEWW); Assoc. Professor, University of Piraeus).

The Symposium Agenda could be summarized in 10 thematic areas, covering the most critical issues of the energy sector:

  • Green and Sustainable Investments in Greece and the E.U.
  • Investment Opportunities and binational cooperations, while moving towards 2030
  • Reshaping the Energy Sector: ESG
  • Recent Developments in the Natural Gas and LNG Markets

  • Green Technologies and Hydrogen
  • Islands’ decarbonization
  • Exploitation of National Hydrocarbon Resources
  • Geopolitics and Energy Security in SE Europe

The Agenda was shaped in collaboration with our partners, Greek and International Organizations, Research Centers and Think Tanks such as the Atlantic Council, the Global Gas Centre, the Energy Policy Research Foundation, the New Energy Business School, SolarPower Europe, the Centre for Research and Technology - Hellas, the European Public Law Organization and the Elliniki Etairia: Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage.

 

The Hellenic Association for Energy Economics is a non-profit research and professional organization, acting as an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences among energy experts. The organization is the official affiliate of the International Association for Energy Economics and aims to promote the networking of all stakeholders in the energy sector. It organizes high-profile conferences with the participation of academics, politicians and recognized market professionals while simultaneously designing and implementing informative and training initiatives through studies and research.
