10 leadership tips, particularly useful in disruptive timesThe Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (HAEE) is happy to co-organise with its strategic partner, Energy Delta Institute, the webinar entitled "Leadership in the Energy Sector in Disruptive Times", on Thursday, November 19, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EET). A crisis, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, is the latest “disruption” that business leaders must face on top of climate change, digital revolution, and Brexit to name but a few. But Energy leaders are no strangers to crisis and disruption (e.g. safety incidents, natural disasters, oil price fluctuations, political instabilities, wars etc.), hence we have learned to be more agile compared to others working in more vulnerable sectors. We will review 10 leadership tips, particularly useful in disruptive times, with particular focus on supporting our teams not only to survive the current crisis, but to even prepare them for the next one!
Speaker: Yanos Michopoulos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DESFA, the newly privatized Gas Transmission Operator in Greece, now majority-owned by Snam (It), Enagas (Sp) and Fluxys (Bel), whereas the Greek Government maintains a minority shareholding. Yanos is also a BoD member of the Greek Energy Forum and the RCEM Institute of ESCP Europe Business School (where he is also a guest speaker) and a Corporate Governance and Leadership course leader at the UK’s Institute of Directors. Yanos (PhD in Physics from Durham, UK) has senior executive experience in various industry sectors, including Energy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Private Equity. He has managed large P&Ls (> 1 bl €), complex KPIs and has been a member of regional and global leadership teams (reached top 1%) of large corporates, such as Shell and Vestas. He was also the CEO of TRAINOSE, the only Railway operating company in Greece. He has led major change projects, including major organisational and cultural transformations, financial and performance turnarounds, introduction of new products and services, new market entries etc. He has led, mentored, and coached large and diverse teams, operating across different functions, and distributed in various locations, countries and cultures.
