The fourth edition of In Focus is titled “Assessing the Energy Transition of the Greek Islands”, focusing on various aspects of the islands' energy transition. It delves into the energy policies, regulatory frameworks, current status, and plans for interconnecting the islands with the mainland grid over the next decade. This issue deeply analyzes the future installed power capacity, electricity costs in comparison to the mainland’s pricing, and the anticipated developments in Renewable Energy Sources (RES) technologies on the islands. Emphasizing the core issue of electricity costs in the islands’ energy system, it also presents the multiple drivers influencing these costs. Additionally, the report highlights various initiatives linked to the islands’ energy transition, detailing different funding mechanisms and schemes. We extend a special thanks to our esteemed Members - BCG, Deloitte, IPTO - whose invaluable expertise has greatly enhanced this new In Focus issue.
