Dear Members and friends,

The sixth edition of InFocus, titled "From Dubai to Baku: A Year of Climate Diplomacy", is here, delving into the pivotal climate initiatives and international agreements shaping the future of the energy sector. This issue explores the themes highlighted at COP28 in Dubai and anticipates the priorities of COP29, hosted in Azerbaijan, with a focus on fostering global collaboration in climate action.

Reflecting on Greece's leadership role, this edition underlines key advancements in energy transition and climate advocacy. Greece’s transition strategy, alongside the COP29 Presidency's agenda, emphasizes themes such as financial commitments, energy justice, and the scaling of renewables and energy efficiency, which are all critical to the Net Zero future.

We proudly highlight Greece’s ascent as a climate leader in Southeast Europe, particularly as it leverages partnerships through initiatives like the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) and plans for a green energy corridor linking to Europe. These efforts not only amplify Greece’s commitment to decarbonization but also underscore its role in the EU’s Green Deal and REPowerEU frameworks.

Moreover, the publication includes insights into the new Climate Finance Action Fund (CFAF), poised to support the financing of projects in regions most affected by climate change. The edition sheds light on the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge, which calls for accelerating clean energy transitions, phasing out coal, and prioritizing energy access and workforce reskilling.

Special thanks to our distinguished Members—PPC Renewables, Deloitte, Faria Renewables, ECO Hellas, TAP and Exergia—whose expertise continues to enrich InFocus and our collective mission toward a sustainable future.

The standard edition, open to all, includes a comprehensive analysis of COP28’s outcomes and a preview of COP29’s priorities. For HAEE Members, the full version extends further into the regulatory shifts, financing mechanisms, and regional collaboration models essential for advancing the energy transition.

If you are not yet a Member, consider joining HAEE to access the complete edition and enjoy additional resources tailored to navigating and influencing the climate agenda.

Happy reading!
