The Conference is under the auspices of the Ministries of Environment & Energy, Infrastructure and Transport, Interior and the Central Union of Greek Municipalities. Its goal is to create a platform for discussion and exchange of experience and best practices regarding decarbonization of transport, a key component in the pursuit of climate neutrality amongst the EU countries, and the implementation of the “European Green Deal” objectives.
Greece has already taken significant steps to promote ecomobility, aiming at changing the model of transportation for the benefit of public health, quality of life and the environment. The new government bill is not limited to providing incentives but recognizes that ecomobility is an important lever of economic growth with new employment opportunities.
Over the course of the virtual forum, experts of the ecomobility market, representatives from the Greek government, institutions, academia, and the energy industry will have the opportunity to debate about the political and economic paths of the implementation of the Green Deal amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 1st pillar of the Conference is dedicated to “Energy Transition”. Emphasis will be given on how ecomobility can mobilize energy transition on islands, with special reference on the island of Astypalaia, which will be transformed into a role model for energy autonomy and ecomobility. Discussions will also focus on ecomobility’s development dimension and the new employment opportunities it may offer.
The 2nd pillar is under the title “Transports and Alternative Fuels”. Participants will refer to the transport sector, shifting to a green direction, with the help of innovation, digitalization and smart services. The speakers will also discuss the European strategy on sustainable and smart mobility, along with the contribution of new fuels and technologies.
The 3rd pillar of the Conference is entitled “Local Authorities”. The speakers will focus on the role of local government in the development of an ecomobility network, and also on redesigning urban transports through green technologies, digital infrastructures and smart applications.
The conference will be held in Greek language.
