In the effort to advance the knowledge and understanding on a variety of issues pertaining the energy sector, the HAEE has launched a set of seminars addressed to professionals in the energy industry who wish to enhance their knowledge across all facets of energy development and use, including theory, business, public policy and environmental considerations.

HAEE Seminars are short and aim at offering insight into key-issues in the energy market, helping professionals understand developments and new trends, as well as equip them with the skills to successfully address current challenges and spot opportunities.

Competitive Electricity Markets

HAEE’s introduction to the “Competitive Electricity Markets” Seminar, provided a comprehensive overview of the main principles and concepts related to the liberalization of the power markets, the basic models of market design, how power sector is restructured and regulated under competition, and how electricity markets are organized. There was emphasis on the details of the “Target Model” for the European Internal Electricity Market, the role of Market Coupling, the fundamentals of Bilateral Transactions and Power Exchanges for trading, as well as the products traded and the trading strategies. The core objective was to understand the most important features of the European competitive power markets, the drivers for the price determination and risk management.

The Geopolitics of Energy in SE Europe

HAEE's Seminar on the Geopolitics of Energy in South Eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean offered participants an in-depth review of the energy policies of the region’s leading countries and the way they interact with the respective strategies of the US, the EU, Russia and China. The Seminar analyzed the interaction between governments and major industry players focusing on the oil and natural gas sectors.

Managing The Energy Transition

"Managing the Energy Transition" Seminar started with an overview of the drivers of the ongoing energy transition and provided an introduction to some of the related conceptual frameworks. Based on the evidence so far of the 4-Ds in Energy Transition - Democratization, Decarbonization, Decentralization and Digitization in Energy, the course provided the essential tool kit for practicing managers in energy companies to respond to the policy and regulatory changes underway. The objective of the course, through practical case examples was to demonstrate that managing the energy transition process is not easy, involves high stakes policy level negotiations but can also offer opportunities along the way for companies to adapt their business models to shape/manage the outcomes from the energy transition process and yet remain fit for the future.

Leadership in Global Energy

Upon completion of the Seminar, participants were able to be inspired, taking a fresh approach to leading their teams and take on new challenges. They also learned how to apply different leadership techniques in different conditions, in order to get high performance from multi-national and cross-functional teams. Moreover, the Seminar intended to teach the participants how to make decisions in difficult or uncertain circumstances, improve their ability to identify opportunities and create value for their firm. Finally, the development of greater self-awareness and understanding of team and organizational behaviors were two additional components of the Leadership seminar.
